WASTE MANAGEMENT
With the recent introduction of Special Waste Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998 many wastes that previously could be disposed of without difficulty are now being regarded as "Special" (Hazardous) Chemical Waste. This includes virtually all printing inks, solvents, oils, acids, alkalis and contaminated rags or wipers.
The onus is on waste producers to ensure that the wastes they generate are handled and disposed of in accordance with the law.
Main features of the regulations include :
- A new definition of Special Waste
- New consignment notes and administration.
- Introduction of Environmental and Heritage Service fees.
- Restrictions on mixing special wastes.
- New powers for inspection at producers' premises.
- New classes of wastes.
To assist our customers in this key area we offer a total package together with Silver Lining Industries of waste recovery, regulating and overall management. Together we will agree a competitive price for waste removal, complete the necessary paper-work (including the pre-notifications with the Environment & Heritage Service) and arrange regular collections on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis. This will ensure your waste is professionally handled in accordance with the regulations.
